Toby Manzanares teaches Physical Education at Rio Rancho High School and just completed his 33rd year as a head volleyball coach–the last 23 years at RRHS. His overall record at Rio Rancho High School is 336-195, winning ten consecutive District 1-5A titles from 2000-‘09 and finishing as the New Mexico Class 5A State Runner-up in 2001, 2004, 2008, & (6A) 2014. Coach “Manz” has coached the “Rams” to the New Mexico Class 5A State Championship six of his 23 seasons (2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009.)

While at St. Pius X High School, Manzanares led the Sartans to a NM Class 3A State runner-up finish in 1993 and the NM Class 3A State Championship in 1994, posting an undefeated season of 21-0. In addition to coaching the NMHSCA North All Star teams in 1994 and 2004, Coach “Manz” has been named “Coach of the Year” five times in two classifications and was named the New Mexico High School Coaches Association “Coach of the Year” in 2005 and the Albuquerque-Metro Volleyball Coaches Association “Coach of the Year” in 2006. Coach “Manz” has an overall career record of 455-266.

Coach “Manz” graduated from St. Pius X High School in Albuquerque and attended Eastern New Mexico University. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Physical Education with a minor in Health Education. Married to Carol, they have two children; Tommy (25), and Shae (19).
